  3. International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE): Details here
  4. Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT): Details here
  5. Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement (PEMS): Guidelines for ethical publishing practices.

Ethical Topics to Consider When Publishing:

  1. Authorship of the Article(s):: Authorship should be limited to those who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research study.
  2. Originality and Plagiarism:: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original, and any use of others' work is appropriately cited or quoted. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and will result in the rejection of the manuscript and possible sanctions.
  3. Data Access and Retention: Authors may be asked to provide the raw data for editorial review and should be prepared to make the data publicly accessible if required.
  4. Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication:: Authors should not publish the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Exceptions include publication as an abstract, academic thesis, or electronic preprint. Authors must disclose any prior publications related to their submission.
  5. Acknowledgement of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of all sources and contributions is required.
  6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: All submissions must include disclosure of any relationships that could be perceived as potential conflicts of interest.
  7. Fundamental Errors in Published Works: Authors are obligated to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher if they discover significant errors in their published work, and must cooperate in retracting or correcting the article as necessary.
  8. Reporting Standards: Authors must present an accurate account of the research performed and provide an objective discussion of its significance.
  9. Hazards and Human or Animal Subjects: Authors must include statements of compliance if their work involves chemicals, procedures, or equipment with inherent hazards, or if it involves human or animal subjects. Ethical approval is required, and this must be documented in the article.
  10. Use of Patient Images or Case Details: Studies involving patients or volunteers require ethics committee approval and informed consent, which should be documented in the article.
  11. Ethical Approval Requirement: All research involving human or animal subjects must receive ethical approval from the appropriate ethics committee. Authors should provide details of this approval in their manuscript.
  12. Data Sharing Policy: IMJ Health encourages transparency in research. Authors should be prepared to share their data upon request, in accordance with the journal's data-sharing policy.
  13. Reviewer Responsibilities: Reviewers must maintain confidentiality, provide objective and constructive feedback, and disclose any conflicts of interest that might affect their review.
